We take a proactive approach to supporting and recognising talent and nurturing individuals’ aspirations.
We recognise the importance of colleagues’ personal and family lives, which is why our flexible TOIL system allows us to manage our own time and adapt our hours to suit our lifestyles, to create a culture of trust, respect and a positive work-life balance.
The wellbeing of the team is our utmost priority, so we ensure that any out of hours survey work is limited to just two evenings or two mornings a week, even at peak times, to minimise stress and enable us to adapt our workload to fit in with other commitments.
As a member of our team, you would have the opportunity to be involved with interesting, rewarding and industry-leading work, in an environment where individuality is embraced, collaboration is encouraged and hard work is rewarded.
Learning & Development
We believe in nurturing talent and investing in our training, to support progression from entry-level roles to senior experts and our future leaders. With an emphasis on teamwork, peer-to-peer learning and mentoring, we are proud to have built an approachable and friendly team, where colleagues are always ready to help one another and share ideas and creativity.
We always encourage our employees to have a voice in the business, and share their personal career aspirations, so that we can implement the right development plan to help them achieve these goals.
EAD Ecology is a really positive place to work. There is a great balance between working hard and delivering top quality projects and then spending time together as a team during our days out and company socials. The work we do is really rewarding too, you know you’re making a real difference in the world around you when it comes to sustainability and conservation. Speaking of the environment, our office is a brilliant space, located in beautiful natural surroundings. It echoes our passion for nature and creates the perfect location for our friendly team to thrive.
Employee Ownership Trust
In January 2022, EAD Ecology become employee-owned, with all company shares held for and on behalf of employees by our Employee Ownership Trust (EOT). This structure ensures our independence and enables our team to have a real voice when it comes to the company’s growth and direction. Everyone shares in the success of the business through annual profit-share. Our EOT demonstrates our commitment to investing in our team and creating a positive and linear company structure where everyone is respected and gets to have their say in key decisions.
EAD Ecology takes our learning and development very seriously, and we have individual meetings to help refine our career progression and make our personal goals achievable. This makes me feel really supported as an employee, and the Employee Ownership Trust is a brilliant initiative which makes us feel like our views are respected and our efforts are rewarded. It’s really motivating when you know you’re benefiting from the profits of the company. I also really appreciate the flexible working hours, meaning I can maintain a good work-life balance by adapting my workload to fit around my family life.
EAD Ecology has always tried to look after employee welfare, and our flexible working structure means that I can tailor my working hours to fit around my family and home life. It’s a great place to work. The fact that I’ve been with the company for over 12 years is testament to that! Not only do we all get on as friends, but we also learn a lot from each other. The experience and expertise across the team is fantastic and is really evident in the work we do; we learn a lot from each other.
Hear From Our Team
I joined EAD Ecology 12 years ago as an Ecologist and now work as one of the Principal Ecologists. Although the company has grown since I first started, it’s still retained that friendly, supportive feel. We’re like one big family! Individuality is embraced and everyone is treated like an equal. The learning and development opportunities are also fantastic, and the work is really varied and rewarding. It’s also great to work for a company that recognises a good work-life balance, and gives you the flexibility to adapt your hours and workload.
I moved to EAD Ecology from a consultancy in Exeter as a Senior Ecologist, and have since been promoted to a Director. Career development like this has been the case with a lot of our colleagues, many of whom have had the opportunity to progress from junior roles to Senior Ecologists and beyond. The team here is fantastic, and everyone’s expertise is shared across the team. The flexible working hours mean that we have the autonomy to deliver high quality work without this impacting their personal lives and commitments. We regularly meet up outside of work for sociable activities; it’s a great environment to be a part of!
