EAD Ecology’s Newt Licence will save time and costs for developers

Natural England (NE) has introduced a Newt Low Impact Class Licence (NLICL). This reduces the burden on developers by streamlining the Licence application process for projects with a low impact on great crested newts. The NLICL is available to a small number of registered consultants nationally and we are delighted that our Associate Director, Hayden Torr, was one of the first to be Licensed. As Hayden explains “The new system means that for certain schemes, a Class Licence can be used instead of a project-specific Mitigation Licence. This means a quicker and less costly licensing process, but one that still ensures our client operations comply with the law. The NLICL still needs to be informed by suitable survey information”.

EAD Ecology also has staff that hold NE’s Low Impact Class Licence for bats.
