EAD Ecology Part of Conservation and Climate Change Research Project

EAD Ecology is part of a joint research project, led by Dr Rob Wilson of Exeter University, and including RSPB, Butterfly Conservation, South West Wildlife Trusts and Natural England. The research project “Using microclimate to adapt conservation to climate change” is funded by NERC. It will use remote sensing and temperature data to model the effects of climate change on the location of micro-climates used by notable species. As EAD Director Dr Matt Cowley explains “this research has potential to provide a means of integrating resilience to climate change into current habitat assessment tools, which has important applications for environmental assessment and habitat management planning”.
