Gove signals government’s intentions on wildlife legislation

Whilst the implications of Brexit on the country’s wildlife legislation still remain unclear, the government has started to indicate its intensions. In a recent speech, the Environment Minster, Michael Gove, indicated that the government would ensure there was a ‘Green Brexit’. He also stated that he had “no intention of weakening the environmental protections that we have put in place while in the European Union.” This and other statements would suggest that significant changes to current wildlife protection provisions are unlikely.
