‘Impact Zones’ around Cornish European Sites may constrain residential development

Cornwall Council has published potential ‘impact zones’ from recreation from new residential development near key European-designated sites. Strategic mitigation measures within these zones have yet to be published and until issued, each development has to produce its own bespoke solution. The location of the zones is shown within the Council’s ‘Schedule of Further Significant Changes to the Local Plan’, published in January 2016. EAD Ecology Director, Matt Jones commented “Until the Council’s strategic mitigation approach is produced, the zones are likely to be a significant constraint to residential development. If progressing a site within one of the zones, we can advise further in relation to project risks and planning strategy”.
