Mitigation Strategy For SPA Recreation Impacts Wins at Appeal

EAD Ecology provided a successful alternative approach to the mitigation of recreational impacts from residential development on the Ashdown Forest SPA and SAC. Commissioned by Gleeson Developments for a residential development in Crawley Down, EAD produced a strategy of linking and enhancing the local recreation infrastructure network, as opposed to the widely-accepted approach of providing a SANG (Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace). EAD Director, Matt Jones, worked closely with the development team, West Sussex County Council and Natural England to ensure the success of the strategy, and presented this as Expert Witness at the planning inquiry.
