New guidance on ecology reports for planning applications

The Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) published new guidelines for Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA) in January. These with British Standard BS42020 provide the framework for ecology reports to accompany planning applications. Ecological regulators have already identified compliance with the new guidelines as a requirement.

EAD Ecology Associate Director, Ross Bower, said “The new guidelines provide a standardised approach to impact assessment and should provide increased clarity to decision makers on the significance of ecological impacts. All of EAD Ecology’s planning reports comply with the new guidelines and BS42020”.
